The Care Certificate Standards is set out as a legal requirements for new employee working in Health & Social Care, its consists of 15 standards and these must be completed within 12 weeks of starting work.

You are responsible for, and have a duty of care to ensure that your conduct does not fall below the standards detailed in the Code. Nothing that you do, or omit to do, should harm the safety and wellbeing of people who use health and care services, and the public.
CARE CERTIFICATE – Standard 4: Equality and Diversity
Uphold and promote equality, diversity and inclusion
CARE CERTIFICATE – Standard 5: Work in a person centred way
Promote and uphold the privacy, dignity, rights, health and wellbeing of people who use health and care services and their carers at all times.

CARE CERTIFICATE – Standard 8: Fluids and nutrition
This unit provides the learners how to prevent Malnutrition and Dehydration, an effective ways of ensuring that the individuals they support not only receive the fluids and foods they need, but that their diet is based on their wishes and preferences.
CARE CERTIFICATE – Standard 9: Awareness of Mental Health, Dementia and Learning Disabilities
This unit aims to increase the awareness of the different support needs of individuals with a mental health conditions, dementia or a learning disability. It emphasises the importance of taking a positive, empathic and understanding approach in order to promote their health and wellbeing.
CARE CERTIFICATE – Standard 10: Safeguarding Adults
This unit explores the various types of abuse and neglect, recognise any possible signs and symptoms. Reporting, recording, investigating in relation to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults.
CARE CERTIFICATE – Standard 11: Safeguarding Children
This unit explores the various types of abuse, how to recognise abuse in children, whistle blowing, groups and agencies involved in the protection of children, reporting and record keeping
CARE CERTIFICATE – Standard 12: Basic Life Support
Is intended to provide learners with information about basic life support techniques which they can use as a basis for the practical training they will be required to take by their employer. It describes resuscitation procedures, how to move someone into the recovery position, and explains how to use an automated external defibrillator.
CARE CERTIFICATE – Standard 13: Health and Safety
This unit explores the role of employer and employee in relation to health and safety at work. Identify and how to carry out risks assessment and procedures in place in the event of an accident or sudden illness. And also the unit will explore safe ways of working, including in relation to lifting and moving, hazardous substances, fire risks, and security.
CARE CERTIFICATE – Standard 14: Handling Information
This will provide the learner with a comprehensive guide to why information is so important, the risks to its safety, and what the learn can do to protect. Relevant key legislation that relates to handling of personal and sensitive information.
CARE CERTIFICATE – Standard 15: Infection prevention and control
Examines how infections can spread and provides guidance on how learners can help to prevent cross-contamination in a healthcare setting. For example, by adhering to workplace procedures in relation to the correct handling of laundry, effective hand hygiene, and the use of personal protective equipment.
Assessment online – multiple choice questions designed to test learners’ understanding of the course.
