If you just love working with children but need or want to work from home for any reason, then a career as a child minder could be ideal for you. Our comprehensive study materials will give you all the knowledge you need to work towards starting and running your own business.
‘Children are not the people of tomorrow, but are people of today. They have a right to be taken seriously, and to be treated with tenderness and respect. They should be allowed to grow into whoever they were meant to be. The ‘unknown person’ inside each of them is our hope for the future.’
Are you the sort of person who would like to give children the best possible start in life – and get paid for it?
You may have young children and are unable to return to work, or your children may have flown the nest and you think it’s too late to start a new career.
If you just love children and would like a career working with them, then becoming a child minder could be the way forward for you!
So what would that sort of job mean for you?
A registered child minder looks after one or more children under the age of eight for more than two hours a day in a domestic setting (usually their own home) for payment. They are usually self-employed and run their own business, providing a safe and stimulating environment for the children in their care.
It’s a career where every day is different! Your typical day might include visiting a park, museum, library or playgroup; arranging fun learning activities such as dressing up, creative play or telling a story; or providing meals and snacks for children and involving them in menu planning and food preparation.
This Level 3 Childminding comprehensive course will help you to understand how to set up your own business as well as the issues you will face in looking after children in your own home. It will teach you everything you need to know about the legal framework, but also about child development, learning through play and much, much more.
How long will it take?
You can register at any time and you have a full year to complete your studies. The course will take around 100 hours of study to complete.
