Aims and Objectives    

Learners will gain an understanding of the safe principles of moving and handling people, the risks associated with poor moving and handling, their legal obligations to carry out safe moving and handling, knowledge of and skills to use the appropriate equipment.

Students will be able to state relevant Moving and Handling and Health and Safety Legislation. State the components of the Spinal Column and describe the effects of poor manual handling. Complete a risk assessment using the ergonomic approach of E.L.I.T.E. Demonstrate the correct method of moving and handling people and the appropriate selection of equipment available.
