The award will confirm knowledge, skills and competence for individuals working with adults across all social care settings.
Outline of Programme
Each unit within the Diploma has a credit rating and to achieve the QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2, learners must complete 9 mandatory units along with a choice of 9 optional knowledge and competence units equaling an overall 46 credits. There are 3 pathways to choose from;
- Generic Pathway
- Dementia Pathway
- Adults with Learning Disabilities Pathway
Choosing Optional Units
Optional units within the QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 are designed to be combined in flexible ways to reflect the real working context of different learners. When planning the units best suited to an individual learner, all units should be considered and a full range of units will be discussed with the learner in order to assess which are the more appropriate.
Assessment takes place through evaluation of work-based performance, presenting evidence, witness testimony and questioning. A portfolio of evidence is produced which demonstrates that the candidate can perform to the level described. Candidates will all have a vocationally competent assessor who will help assemble the portfolio, prepare for assessment as well as supporting the candidate throughout their Diploma programme together with resources as required.
